I upgraded my VDP 5.8 to the latest 6.0. After the upgrade I opened the vSphere Web Client and tried to “Connect to the VDP Appliance”. The clock icon just sat there. Came back hours later and it was finally logged in but once I clicked on any page it would freeze or lock up again for hours.

Solution:

Log into vCenter Server and rename the SerenityDB folder located in “C:\ProgramData\VMware\vSphere Web Client”. Once renamed, restart the VMware vSphere Web Client Services.

The SerenityDB directory contains all the plugins the vSphere Web Client uses, so by renaming it to .old it will create a new copy of the folder and the plugin should work. This may also be helpful if you are having any issues with any plugins related to the vSphere Web Client.
